STEP ONE: APPLY FOR A VISA!

  • Visa requirements vary from country to country, so your best bet is to get hold of your nearest South African Consulate. Most visa applications can be done online.

  • If you are from one of Read up on some general information about South African visas THESE COUNTRIES you don’t need to apply for a visa to visit Cape Town for up to 90 days.

  • VFS Global manages Visa Facilitation Centres for the Department of Home Affairs in South Africa, and they accept online applications through their website. You can read their FAQs HERE for more useful information.

  • You can also apply for a TEMPORARY RESIDENCE VISA , and apply to extend your Temporary Residence Visa while in South Africa (as long as you have 30 days remaining on your existing visa).

STEP TWO: ARRANGE YOUR TRANSPORTATION!

  • Book your plane ticket (or boat, or hot air balloon, or whatever your preferred mode of travel is). You’ll have to have a return ticket in order to get a visa, as this shows you are indeed planning on going home at some point.

  • It might be a good idea to pay the little bit extra to get yourself a flexible ticket, so that you can potentially extend your visa once you’re here and having a fantastic time.
